Corrections, Updates and Feedback

Mortgage rules, lender practices, rates, thresholds and calculator assumptions can change. Trust requires more than adding a fresh date: it requires investigating errors, documenting material revisions and showing when a page was genuinely reviewed.

Report an error or suggest an update

Email psingh@hopewellgroup.ca with the page URL, the exact passage or result in question, why you believe it is inaccurate or outdated, and any source that would help us verify the issue.

Helpful information

  • • Page URL and heading.
  • • Screenshot or copied text, especially for a calculator result.
  • • Date the issue was observed.
  • • Official source, lender bulletin or regulatory document, where available.
  • • The jurisdiction and transaction type involved.

Investigation workflow

How a reported issue is handled

1

Report received and logged

We record the page URL, the questioned statement or calculation, the reporter’s explanation, any supporting source and the date received.

2

Source and context review

The author or reviewer checks the original source, effective date, jurisdiction, surrounding context, calculation assumptions and whether the content was accurate when published but later became outdated.

3

Professional escalation where needed

A mortgage-regulatory or underwriting issue is escalated to the Principal Broker. Legal, tax, accounting, appraisal or other specialized questions may require an external qualified professional rather than an internal guess.

4

Correction or update decision

We correct confirmed errors, clarify ambiguous wording, update materially changed rules or assumptions, or retain the content with an explanation if the evidence does not support a change.

5

Transparent publication record

A material correction or substantive update changes the last-reviewed date and may receive a revision note. Routine copy edits do not make an old article appear newly researched.

Minor edits versus substantive updates

Minor editorial edit

Spelling, punctuation, formatting, accessibility labels, broken links, image optimization or wording that does not change the meaning. These changes normally do not alter the substantive review date.

Substantive update

A change to a rule, threshold, calculation method, material assumption, legal or regulatory explanation, lender-category analysis, risk warning, conclusion or important factual statement. These changes normally update the review date and may receive a revision note.

Material correction

A confirmed error that could materially affect a reader's understanding or decision. The correction is made promptly, and the page records the correction where useful to readers.

When dates change

  • First published: the original public-release date.
  • Last substantively reviewed: the latest human review that reassessed material accuracy, assumptions or sources.
  • Sources last checked: the latest date key external sources were revisited.
  • Reviewed by: the person accountable for the substantive review.
  • Revision note: a concise explanation of a meaningful change, when relevant.

Deployment timestamps, automated builds, component refactors or a sitewide footer change do not automatically refresh article dates. Structured-data dateModified values should match genuine human-edited changes to the page, not every software deployment.

Regulatory and calculator review

Regulatory content is checked against official government, regulator or program sources where available. Lender policies are identified as lender-specific and are not generalized into law. Calculator changes require review of the formula, rounding, compounding convention, qualification assumptions, default values, explanatory copy and tests.

A calculator is an educational model, not an approval engine. Where a current rule is uncertain, rapidly changing or lender-specific, the content should state the uncertainty rather than use false precision.
